Playtest #11- Cruel Hyena

The Cruel Hyena is out! This includes an Elite CR 5 and a CR 1.



Rules Updates


Stoneworking in now Masonry
 We've renamed the Stoneworking profession to Masonry to line up better with Mason's Tools.

Learning Crafting Recipes  
We've written up a blurb for learning crafting recipes, and included 2 new optional rules: Purchasing Crafting Recipes and Researching Crafting Recipes.

Phase Resistance & Optional Rule: Expanded Phase Resistance  
We've removed the feature allowing GMs to end an ongoing Condition with 2 Phase Actions, and have now made this an Optional Rule. This also includes the ability to remove Effects as well. We did our best to outline and inform the risks of using this optional rule - and recommend raising the creature by a CR and increasing Material Gathering by up to 50% more attempts when using this rule. We also go into not using this rule on all conditions and effects, such as being Grappled, Hunter's Mark, and Banishment.

More to come 
We will be including an optional rule that allows you to use alternative tools to specific projects. If you're looking for a group, feel free to use

Please keep in mind: 
  • This is TEST MATERIAL and may have spelling/grammatical errors. 
  • Layouts and content may change after playtest.
  • Empty spaces are where images will be in the final product. Images aren't included in playtest packets.
  • Creatures are balanced for 4-5 player parties of the same level as the CR. Going below or above this will alter the intended experience.
ALTERNATE PARTY SIZES While not included in the doc, we do want to experiment with including adjustments for alternate party sizes. Please reference below your party size. 
  • This is balanced for 4-5 players. For every player below or above 5, decrease or increases the max HP of the Cruel Hyena by 34. You may not need to make this change for a 4 player party.

  • Animal Attack, Intrusive Thoughts

Fiendish Forge Facelift!

Hi folks!

Wanted to let you know we went ahead and updated the logo for Fiendish Forge. While the plain text got the message across, I'm a HUGE sucker for artistic logos.



This book has been a joy to work on - and I've been delighted by all the feedback we're seeing through playtesting. I'm super excited for you all to see the result when we wrap up next year - but we still have plenty to do!  Once again, thank you for your support. We'll update the pre-order shop items to reflect the new logo!

If you received physical products, such as the Hardcover Book, they will not be shipped yet. We want to ship them with everything else once Fiendish Forge is manufactured and ready to ship, and we can bundle your shipping rate.

Playtest #10 - Crab Legion

This includes an Elite CR 3 and a Standard CR 1

Rules Updates


Phase Resistance
Further updates have been made! We removed the ability to automatically end a condition or effect if it's non saved, and replaced it with the ability to end a condition without needing a save by expending 2 Phase Actions! Having effects like Hunter's Mark being removed was unintentional, so I'm hoping this clears things up.

Added the following to the Phase Turn description:
Beginning/End of Turn Effects happen as soon as possible, but once per round. If a Phase Creature is targeted by an effect that takes place at the Beginning or End of a Turn, it takes place at the Top Most Phase Turn or the next possible Phase Turn. These effects can only take place once per round. This includes effects that would end at the end of a Phase Creature's turn.



ALTERNATE PARTY SIZES
This is balanced for 4-5 players.  For every player below or above 5, decrease or increases the max HP of the Crab Legion by 39. You may not need to make this change for a 4 player party.

We'll be locking and charging pre-orders if you purchased the PDF for Why Slay Dragons when you could be FISHING or picked up the Foundry Module for Why Slay Dragons when you could be FISHING! We're hoping to release the Foundry Module this weekend, so we want to ensure we can distribute it to you!

Fiendish Forge is still hard at work (as you've seen through our playtests).
